Why do you have a seperate site for your graphic and media design services? Isn't that a part of web design?

A common misunderstanding about web design is that graphic design and web design go together. Web design is the process of utilizing resources that are made readily available by the client (ex. company logo, graphics and multimedia, writing, etc.) to create a customized website. Graphic and multimedia design is the process of creating graphic imagery, flash animations, etc, to be used for whatever purpose the client may need. Since creating graphics and multimedia are a form of digital art, I have included them with my art companies' services. This does not mean that I will only do web design here, however; it does mean that graphic and multimedia design services may cost extra.

How long does it take to design a site and how much does it cost?

This question can only be answered by knowing what the clients needs are. Some sites may take longer than others, and may involve more work. Other factors may come in to play, such as if we are currently working on a project and are unable to start on another right away, or unforeseen circumstances that can not be predicted initially. Cost is figured on the services you need and the amount of work that will be involved. We are very flexible and willing to work with your budget, so it never hurts to ask! What can I do to make the design process easier?

Planning for a site is the most important thing you can do. Ask yourself what is the purpose of your site? What services will it offer? Will I need a web host? What information do I want on the site? Who am I trying to attract to my site? Gather all materials that will be needed to produce the site, such as: logos, pictures, media and graphics, writing, etc. Determine whether your site will be dynamic or static. Choose your color scheme, or try to think of a theme for your page. The more preparation that can be done by you in advance, the smoother and more efficient the design process will be.

What do you mean by "Dynamic" & "Static"?

To answer this question, I will quote the definition of these two terms from Webopedia.com: Dynamic refers to actions that take place at the moment they are needed rather than in advance. In web design, this usually involves a CMS and a database. Examples of these sites would be e-commerce sites with user accounts and shopping carts, blogs, message forums, photo galleries, etc. The opposite of dynamic, which is static, generally refers to elements of the Internet or computer programming that are fixed and not capable of action or change. While these sites can be interactive, they are usually limited to the amount of interactivity that can be performed.

What does "Valid XHTML1.0" & "Valid CSS" mean?

Valid XHTML1.0 and Valid CSS refer to this website being validated by W3C as compliant in both these areas. Clicking on the links will take you to the validation page verifying that the site you visited has been validated by W3C as being compliant. Remember that compliancy leads to cross-browser compatibility, and also aids in accessibility.

Once my site is done, what's next?

After your site is completed, all documents are completed and payment has been received, the final website and all resources provided are given to the client. The next step is for the client to upload their files to their host and to test the site to make sure they have uploaded all files necessary. After that, the site is ready to go live!
