Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Review written by: Angel Dorsey

The plot of this movie brings different emotions to it's audience, including humor, anger, sadness, and sympathy. Helen (Kimberly Elise) and Charles McCarter (Steve Harris) have the perfect marriage, at least that's what everyone thinks. Charles is a very successful attorney. He and Helen live in a mansion, where her only concern is standing by and supporting her husband. What others don't know, including Helen, is that her husband has been living a seperate life with his mistress Brenda (Lisa Marcos) & their two boys. If that isn't enough, he decides to break the news to Helen on the night of their 18th wedding anniversary, and then throws her out on the streets.

Helen finds herself heart broken, with nowhere to go. During her time of turmoil is when she meets Orlando (Shemar Moore). Charles hires Orlando to pack and move her things to wherever she desires to go. Orlando and Helen get into an argument, and she kicks him out of the truck. She drives herself and her belongings to her grandmother's, Madea (Tyler Perry). During her stay there, Helen is faced with different obstacles that build her character and give her the strength to face Charles again. Helen's love and patience for her husband is truly put to the test, and even though the plot relates to situations that happen in reality, Tyler Perry finds ways to lighten the mood with the silly antics of Madea.

This movie is a must see, especially if you are in the mood for a good laugh. If you haven't seen any of Tyler Perry's plays, I highly recommend them as well.

Release Date: February 25, 2005
